Summer Time Fun

So far this summer we haven't done much, but that is about to change. We are getting organized and into a summer routine, well some what of a routine. I am not huge on setting a routine for every day but there are some things I would like to do once a week. Here is what we are going to do this summer.

Once a week we will be going to the library. They have a day for toddlers where they read a couple stories, sing a couple songs, play games and make a craft. It only lasts thirty minutes but that is perfect with a 2 year old and 8 month old. Also once a week in the evening they do a feature for that week. Last week they had a magician and this week they are having "critters" from the zoo. I'm really excited.

I am also trying to lose baby weight, so a friend of mine are walking at the park while our children play. The path is right around the play ground so we can constantly watch them which is nice.

Home made items so far have been play dough and finger paint, which Benson hates, haha he wont touch the finger paint but loves the play dough. These are both edible and off of pinterest.

What are some of your activities this summer, rather it be some where else or in your back yard? I'd like to share ideas of things to do outside the house, inside the house and out back. I do draw brain blocks and cant think of anything fun. Hopefully this will get us all to share ideas and not do the same boring stuff all the time!

  1. This is a great post - you have some awesome ideas! I feel like we need to get busy doing some things this summer - we've been cooped up at home for a week now and I just feel blah. I like that you aren't sticking to a strict schedule - I think it puts too much pressure on - at least for me. I am trying to finalize our summer schedule now, but it isn't going to be crazy specific! :)

    1. Right, Im a very organized OCD person expect with daily schedules. I do like to plan major activities that requires a lot with 2 kids but I'm pretty laid back. I just get bored sitting here so I'm trying to think of things to do to get us out of the house or even just things to do outside. I love pinterest and get a lot off of there. I also like free activities because money is tight!

  3. Edible finger paint? That sounds cool! I was thinking today that I should look at getting a croquet set again. I used to love going into the backyard to play croquet. My idea of great summertime activities are reading and writing, so maybe I should look for something else to do this summer too. :)

    1. Yes it is made from flour! I found the recipe on pinterest. I remember playing croquet at family cookouts all the time!

  4. When I'm working with a kiddo that doesn't like fingerprint or playdough or whatever messing thing we're doing, I put it in a ziploc bag to start. They can still explore but not freak about the mess.

    1. I never thought about that. He is fine if I give him a paint brush and he was fine touching the play dough.. I don't know why he didn't like it but that was months ago so I may try again.

  5. I hope you have a great summer!
We go to the library twice a week (2 of my kids have 2 different storytimes and the other 2 have theater group), walk on the park trail 2-3 times a week, have a playdate once or twice a week, and we're continuing our weekly activity. This past week we made slime!

  6. I have learned that walking really is an amazing and low-impact way to lose weight, and it's so much more enjoyable when you can do ti with a friend! How fun. :)

  7. My 3 year old loves the library...and we've only been once!! Ha. I need to incorporate that place into our summer plans for sure. And good for you, making a goal to lose the weight. I actually JUST got my butt on my treadmill yesterday. Sure it was only for a 20 minute power walk but you gotta start somewhere, right? I had my 2nd child 8 weeks ago and I've got a much "looser" belly than I did with my first :( -Misty

    1. I noticed that too, that my belly isnt as tight as after my first. I'm trying. I don't want to be the 106lbs that I was before my son was born but I am not comfortable with the 140lbs I'm at now after baby number 2. I'd like to be back down to 120, no more muffin top or back fat. Also thighs. If it fits in the thighs its too big around my waist lol oh the joy!! I started the water bomb 30 challenge, i do feel a difference.

  8. We do a ton of beach days because it makes both of my kids happy! We go to the pond to catch frogs, we have some outdoor lunch time concerts for kids that we go to, lots of outside picnic lunches! We live in Maine so when the weather is good we don't go inside much!
